Naturopathic Roots Immersion
Day Retreat - Trees of Trenance
Sunday, 18 February 2024, 10am - 5pm
Spend a relaxing day deeply (re)connecting with the roots of naturopathic medicine at the beautiful Trees of Trenance in the Adelaide Hills. We will explore the vision and passion for evolving vitalistic naturopathic traditions into the modern world and how we balance reductionism with holism, trusting the vital force to do the healing.
We will explore in heart-mind in circle . . .
The philosophy and clinical theory that makes us naturopaths
What the vitalistic approach looks like within the modern understanding of body-mind-spirit (focus: obstacles to cure)
How modern naturopathy has gravitated toward functional medicine, the benefits and the drawbacks
Emunctorology: optimising the routes of detoxification and elimination
How we can hold the tradition of naturopathic medicine when so many are using our title (most incorrectly)
Cultural movements that are synergistic with traditional naturopathic practice
How economic forces provide an opening for a return to tradition
Reflection on aspects of our current practice that align with our personal values and philosophies (and those that don't)
The day will also be sprinkled with nature, hydrotherapy, movement, breathing and meditation. A workbook will be provided for notes and reflections.
Participants will be asked to bring a healthy, whole food dish to share for lunch. Teas, fruit, nuts, dark chocolate, and filtered rainwater will be provided.
A maximum of 16 practicing naturopaths will create our circle for this retreat.
Booking is $139, a $75 deposit holds your place, with the balance due by 15 February.
If you'd like to turn this into more of a retreat, check out accommodation options on the venue's website.
